Topic: Douglas McHarg joins EcoSafe Natural Products

Douglas McHarg, an experienced scientist, has recently joined Ecosafe Natural Products as a formulation chemist. Previously, Doug has worked for the Canadian Forest Research Centre researching interactions of pesticides on forest insects and their dispersion. In 1986 Doug moved to Safer Limited where he was the senior inventor of Safer’s herbicidal products. Doug wrote patent and PMRA submissions, and appears on several herbicidal patents with Rod Bradbury , founder of EcoSafe Natural Products Inc.

After Safer moved operations to the US, Doug went on to work for CB Research and developed a technique for measuring stress to fish in lakes where mining is the predominant resource. In 1997, CB Research was purchased by Cavendish Analytical Laboratories and Doug worked as a manager running an office on Vancouver Island for the Vancouver based environmental laboratory.

Doug’s present duties include research, preparations and analysis of formulations using GC/MS, HPLC, particle size analyzer and other analytical instruments. Doug also prepares and ships formulations for testing. Doug’s abilities combine knowledge of formulation chemistry, analytical chemistry, biological testing and statistics. Doug is also conversant with patent applications and registration of new products.
